San Luis Obispo County (AKA "SLO") is located on the California Central Coast just 100 miles north of Santa Barbara, sitting halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The climate is among the best in the country averaging 285 sunny days per year and San Luis Obispo's overall quality of life is world class. SLO County has recently been rated as the 3rd best place to live in the U.S. by Sperling's Best Places.
SLO County consists of several senic beach communities, quaint countryside towns, world famous wine regions and other well known attractions. Morro Rock stands nearly 600 feet tall and acts as a landmark to sailors and travelers as they enter the area by land and sea. Thousands of visitors tour Hearst Castle, once the palatial estate of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. On the south end of the county sits Oceano Dunes (formally known as Pismo Dunes), the most extensive coastal dunes in California and the only state park that allows vehicles on the beach. SLO county is also home to nationally known California Polytechnic State University. |
